Women of Spirit
We are the young, the younger and the young at heart women of St. John's. We are the homemakers, the professional women and we are the women who have worked in the past and now enjoy the reward of having "been there and done that." In essence, we are women of all walks of life, all levels of experience and all different needs. But we come together for a united focus.

Our Mission Statement states "We strive to educate, support and enhance the spiritual and social needs of our members and church community. With Christianity as our center we dedicate ourselves to the fulfillment of all needs by fostering acts of charity, spirituality and leadership."
This is achieved through monthly meetings - the second Wednesday of each month - September through May, from 7:15-9:00 pm in the Main Hall in the Hospitality Center. Here we provide speakers, engage in discussions and experience on a social level the spirituality and faith of other women of St. John's parish and beyond.

M.O.M.S.

M.O.M.S. Ministry of Mothers Sharing is a group for mothers of all ages! The group meets to develop a greater awareness of your own spirituality as a mother and to appreciate the ministry of motherhood, whether you're a mother, grandmother, aunt or stepmother. The group meets for 8 week sessions. Please contact the Parish office for more information.

Consolation Committee
Our parish has several small groups of parishioners who make themselves available to a family at the time of death. As soon as possible, a lay person calls and/or visits the next of kin or someone else designated by the family. By means of a conversation it can be determined what, if anything, the parish will do in the days before the funeral and afterwards.
Some specific areas of help:

  • Assistance in planning the Funeral Mass
  • Assistance in securing a location for a small collation after the Funeral if the family doesn't have a place to use.

The Consolation Committee also organized a special Memorial Mass once a year for all those who have died. A luncheon is served after the Mass.
For further information contact the parish office at 222-1206 and a member of the Consolation Committee will contact you.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization of lay persons, founded in 1833 by Federic Ozanam and his companions. Placed under the patronage of St. Vincent de Paul, the society derives its inspiration from his thinking and work. It seeks, in a spirit of justice and charity and by person-to-person involvement of its members, to help those who are in need.

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process whereby adults become members of the Catholic Church. For further information contact the parish office at 222-1206.

Altar Servers
There are many ways in which young people are able to become involved in parish life. Any boy or girl who is in Grade 4, or beyond is invited to become an altar server her at St. John's.
By attending training sessions these young people learn how to serve at Mass and other liturgical celebrations.
Being an altar server brings the youth of the parish together and helps them to get to know one another. Each year the servers are invited to a summer outing as a sign of the appreciation of the parish.
Since parish life depends on the involvement of the parishioners, this is one way in which boys and girls are able to actively participate. For information contact Mrs. Keenan at 222-0707 or speak with Father Roy.

Babysitting
From October through June volunteers offer babysitting at Church. This has been taking place during the 10:00 mass. The nursery is in the basement of the church.
Unlike the religious education program for pre-school, this service is strictly babysitting!

Social Justice Committee
The Social Justice Committee was established to bring awareness to the parish community on the needs of others. Not only in the parish community, but in the Attleboro area, the country and the world.
The Social Justice Committee is integral in incorporating programs that help meet the needs of others i.e. Operation Rice Bowl, which is a Catholic Relief Program that provides concrete assistance to those in need; Servv International that sells handmade products at a fair wage that would support families in third world nations. If you would like more information please contact JoAnn Stewart at 223-2080.
